Intro to Ashtanga Yoga

Learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice in a slow, safe and comprehensive manner. Learn Sun Salutations and the fundamental standing asanas (postures), breathing techniques, and philosophy of the Ashtanga yoga system. Some seated postures also introduced.


Mysore” style is the traditional method for learning the Ashtanga yoga practice as taught in Mysore, India. In the Mysore method, each student has an individualized practice which is developed and overseen by the teacher. 

Led Primary Series

A traditional led class that follows the sanskrit count as Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Guruji taught and now his daughter, Saraswati. 


Chant the Yoga Sutras and explore their meaning. Learn Shanti Mantras and well as other devotional chants.


We are blessed to have Venerable Geshe Gephal teach the subtle aspects of meditation. Class begins with steadying the mind, then intentions stated, followed by either analytical or single pointed meditation.

Community Yoga

This class offers the practice of yoga to all members of the community in an economically, accessible way ($5 per class.) The style of this class can vary depending on the students’ needs, day of the week, and our teachers’ preferences. But most of the classes are based on the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. Come to AYC’s studio for a class and be pleasantly surprised. Suitable for all levels.


Slow Flow Vinyasa

Slow Flow Vinyasa connects breath with movement. This creative and slower paces vinyasa sequence will guide students through sun salutations, some standing and seated postures, ending with quieting and meditative postures. These classes improve students’ strength, flexibility, balance and mindfulness. Classes are suitable for all skill levels.
Classes are held on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:15-10:30am at The Ivy Yoga School with Joanna Hughes

Hatha Yoga

This class is a medium intensity practice that allows students to work at their own level in a group setting. The practice will include simple meditation and breathing techniques to help tune in, focus and calm the mind. Breath and movement are combined as students move through a full body practice of poses to strengthen and stretch. Class finishes with a conscious rest. Class held Wednesday, 9:15am,  at The Ivy Yoga School with Blossom Hawes.
