Mysore-style Ashtanga offers an accessible yoga practice and philosophy that allows students to move at their own pace in a group setting, receiving individualized attention from a teacher, and to develop physical strength and flexibility while acquiring meditative awareness and focus.
This workshop provides an overview of what it is like to practice Ashtanga’s primary series—its techniques of moving mindfully through a sequence of asanas, as well ways of breathing, managing energy-levels, and sustaining concentration and non-judgement. Students will learn about how Mysore-style yoga differs from other forms of yoga, as well as about its standing and seated poses, its twists, binds, inversions, and resting states. The goal of this introduction is to show how to establish and grow a yoga practice in our daily lives--both on and off the mat.
