Ashtanga yoga is meant to be a therapeutic, lifelong practice for the mind and body. It has the reputation of being vigorous, strict and sometimes inaccessible to people seeking the healing benefits of yoga.
The Primary Series is also known as “Yoga Cikitsa,” meaning “Yoga Therapy” in Sanskrit. This sequence of asanas was designed to specifically heal patterns in the body that cause pain and stress. Practitioners learn the asasas slowly, in a step-by-step method with the help of a teacher who gives specific guidance and assistance along the way.
Yoga Chikitsa methodically balances and cleanses the body, creating flow between breath, movement and the nervous system. It builds discipline and increased comfort and is available TO EVERYONE.
This 2 Hour Workshop will cover the following:
Leaving ego at the door: Discussing the 8 limbs of yoga
Linking breath and gaze to movement.
Half led-primary series class with slow flow of motion and breath.
Questions and discussion of what is next in beginning an Ashtanga practice
FREE and open to ALL LEVELS of practitioners
